I agree Chad. Apologies for my slothful reply! Yes turning boring tasks into challenges with rewards will help. FYI, I’ve just added a paragraph from a brilliant article, albeit a few years ago, re using gaming principles to boost marketing engagement on web sites.

many thanks Abfal – uyes we are going to see more gamification in the months and years to come. In fact I’ll add a piece I discovered today re Local Authorities using gamification to motivate people to beat obesity.

I like the shared knowledge you have summarized in the post.

People. You should keep up with PR. This guy knows it better as he stays up to date.

Yes Chad. And it’s also another example of how when sales and marketing integrate the net return from the the joint effort far exceeds the cost, as both IBM and BT, in my experience of training both their sales and marketing people together – have found out!

Great post, I like a lot of the ideas gamification brings, especially when it comes to Salespeople. I worked as Director of Sales for a large real estate organization for over 10 years and a lot of the ideas here would have been very helpful. Our sales staff were exactly as you described, excited about the chase of the sale, but did a very weak job of data input, CRM management and customer engagement. Turning these “boring” tasks into challenges (with rewards) between teams and projects would have given them all extra motivation to better monitor and track both customers and leads. This in turn would have boosted sales and revenue no doubt.
